This week in structured writing my classmates and I practiced writing an SAT essay. Alexa taught us how we can use the prompt of the essay to help us form thorough and clear topic sentences for each paragraph. We wrote the thesis, “As people rely more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate,” on a notecard and each of us came up with different topic sentences using similar keywords in the prompt. We came up with the three different main body topic sentences that connected to the prompt. From there we began writing our essay. Once we finished our rough draft, each of us separately reviewed our paragraphs with Alexa. She helped us critique our paragraphs to make sure they would fit with the theme of our thesis. By the end of this whole process, we had an SAT practice essay worthy of a perfect score. Want to read it? Check out this link.
