Seminar Spotlight: Creative Writing

This week in creative writing has been quite eventful. The first day, we all did two prompts; “I remember” and “I don’t remember.” The purpose of these prompts was to unlock the parts of our brain that hold the memories we choose to remember and those we block out. It other terms, it was almost like a test to see how far each of us could go with our writing. We took a trip to the local bookstore to see what kinds of books we could find and later explore. The next day, we went to Whole Foods to do some secret stalking and character sketches. The plan was: find someone, follow them, and then create a character out of them. This character would be one we would be working on for a while, so it was important to get the information we needed. Lastly, we went to the Montague Bookmill to work on our characters and write a short story. We sat by the beautiful landscape, despite the rain. With the roaring river as our music, we worked on developing our characters. To sum it up, it’s been a great week for the students of creative writing.
