A sizable group of 26 students toured Northampton during Pioneer Valley Day. Northampton is two towns away from Amherst College and is home to Smith College. Smith and Amherst, alongside UMass, Hampshire, and Mt. Holyoke, make up the Five College Consortium.
To begin their day, students enjoyed both sweet and savory crepes at the Mosaic Cafe. This was followed by a brisk walk to the Botanic Garden of Smith College, where they basked in its indoor and outdoor flora. After some time in the greenhouse, the group made their back into town for cold treats at Herrell’s Ice Cream & Bakery, which serves well over a hundred combinations of flavors of ice cream, smoothies, and milkshakes. To conclude the trip, students enjoyed games, rides, live music, and the sight of a walk-in balloon at the Three County Fair and Fairgrounds.
