Cape Cod!

This weekend, half of our group escaped the heat of Amherst for the windswept dunes of Cape Cod. On Friday, we stopped in Hyannis for lunch before heading to Nauset Beach for some afternoon fun in the sun.

That evening we went out for dinner, and several students (and teachers!) learned how to eat a full boiled lobster.

On Saturday, we headed out early for our whale watch, where we were lucky enough to spot several fin back whales and a 36-year-old humpback whale named Diablo. We read choice passages from Moby Dick aboard the ship, and Nicole B. launched our sea voyage with some fun facts about whales on the Cape.

On Saturday night, we had dinner in Provincetown before seeing a family-friendly drag performance by Scarbie. The show was all about embracing yourself and pursuing your dreams, and students left laughing and feeling uplifted.

We left the Cape on Sunday morning, but not before stopping at Nauset Lighthouse for a “lighthouse moment” and a farewell to the beach.
