Seminar Spotlight: Writing for College

We started off our journey to find our voice in writing by going to the Amherst chapel and doing a guided meditation followed by a few five-minute writing prompt exercises, and shared out after as an ice breaker. On the second day, we skipped along to Amherst Books in order to create a discussion for our five-minute bus ride to UMass Amherst, where we all ran up to the 23rd floor, and tackled some challenging mind boggling prompts, which we later shared out under the clear blue sky on the grass. On the third day, we paid a visit to the famous poet Emily Dickinson’s house, which has been turned into a museum, and we were given a tour. On Thursday we went to the Montague Bookmill in the middle of the forest overlooking a waterfall, read some newspaper articles and came up with next week’s writing project that we all are very excited to begin.
